Online, not consumer

An online photo album designer for client work.

Not a Shutterfly. Not a Mixbook. Cuppafolio is the online album designer for working photographers who need the pro-lab output and the file-ownership that consumer photo-book sites cannot give them.

Online, but not a consumer photo-book site

“Online photo album designer” usually means a consumer photo-book site: pick a template, lay out the family holiday, and buy prints from that site at that site's prices. That model is fine for hobbyists and useless for a professional, because the printing, the pricing and the output are all controlled by someone else.

Cuppafolio is an online photo album designer built for working photographers instead. It runs in the browser like those sites, but the output is a professional print-ready PDF you own and print with any lab, with proper bleed, DPI and colour control. The convenience of online, with none of the consumer ceiling.

Pro output, online convenience

The thing professionals lose with consumer sites is control of the final file. Cuppafolio gives it back: every album exports as a 300 DPI, sRGB, bleed-correct PDF you download and own, with no obligation to print through anyone.

You still get the online benefits, nothing to install and work that is available wherever you sign in, without the consumer constraints on quality or price.

A finished printed album beside lab prints
The Cuppafolio way

A focused tool that does the album job brilliantly.

Everything you need for the album, nothing you don't, and the finished file is always yours.

Made for pros

The opposite of a consumer photo-book site.

Shutterfly, Mixbook and Mpix are great for personal albums. None of them produce a 300 DPI sRGB PDF you can hand to a pro album lab. Cuppafolio is built around exactly that output, for photographers selling printed albums as a product.

Any printer

Print at the lab you already trust.

We are not a print lab. Your PDF goes to whichever album supplier you love. No forced fulfilment, and no print markup baked into your margin.

Print-ready PDF

300 DPI. 3 mm bleed. Yours.

One click and a press-ready PDF lands in your downloads: 300 DPI, sRGB, embedded fonts, optional crop marks. No watermark, no expiry, no per-album unlock fee.

Flat pricing

One monthly price. No per-album fees.

From £19/month. Design as many albums as your plan allows for the same price every month, with no surprise charge when a busy season hits.

The problem

Consumer photo-book sites are not built for you

The album step should be the fun part. Too often the tooling gets in the way.

Locked into one site's own print fulfilment, with no way to use the pro album lab you already have

No true 300 DPI sRGB pro-lab output, no proper bleed, no embedded fonts

Templates aimed at family hobbyists, not commercial client deliverables

What sets us apart

The difference is in what we deliberately leave out.

A narrow tool, an honest deal, and a file that is genuinely yours.

You own the export

Every album leaves as a print-ready PDF with no watermark and no per-album unlock fee. It is a real deliverable you keep, not a file held hostage.

Any lab, no markup

We do not print or fulfil anything. Your PDF goes to the album supplier you already trust, with no print margin quietly skimmed along the way.

It runs in the browser

No installer, no licence keys, no per-machine setup. Open Cuppafolio in any modern browser and your work is exactly where you left it, on any computer.

How the online album designer works in Cuppafolio

The flow is deliberately short. There is no setup project, no render queue and no export wizard to fight. Getting from your selects to a file your lab accepts is a handful of steps.

  • Sign in; there is nothing to install
  • Start from a professional designer template
  • Drop in selects; snapping aligns each spread
  • Export a print-ready PDF and choose your own lab

What you get

Online, but built for client work

  • Designer templates built for client-facing albums, not personal photo books
  • 300 DPI sRGB, 3 mm bleed, embedded fonts — the spec pro album labs expect
  • No bundled print fulfilment, so you choose any UK, US or European pro album lab
  • Print-ready PDF you own, with no per-album unlock or watermark
  • Browser-based — no consumer-app install, no per-machine setup, OS-agnostic
  • Flat monthly pricing, with a real 3-day free trial of the full editor
We switched the whole studio over in a week. Everyone designs in the browser, the files are ours, and the bill is the same every month. Easy decision.

Questions

Good questions, straight answers.

How is this different from Shutterfly, Mixbook or Mpix?

Those are consumer photo-book sites with bundled printing — pick a template, drop in images, they print and ship. Cuppafolio is pro album software with no printing: pick a template, lay out an album, export a 300 DPI sRGB PDF, send it to a pro album lab. Different output, different price point, different buyer.

Can I really use any album lab I want?

Yes — that is the whole proposition. Cuppafolio is not a print lab and has no fulfilment partner. The PDF you export goes to whichever pro album supplier you already use. Most UK, US and European pro album labs accept the standard format Cuppafolio exports.

Will the file actually match a pro album lab's spec?

Yes. Exports are 300 DPI in sRGB with 3 mm bleed, embedded fonts and optional crop marks — the format every major pro album lab expects. Consumer photo-book sites use proprietary formats designed for their own presses; that is the architectural difference.

Can I use the same Cuppafolio account for client work and a personal book?

Yes, but you probably will not want to. Cuppafolio is designed for pro client work, so the output specs (300 DPI sRGB, pro-lab bleed, embedded fonts) are professional-grade and produce files priced for pro printing. For a personal family photo book a consumer site is genuinely cheaper.

What does it cost?

Solo from £19/month, Studio £39/month, Agency £79/month — flat pricing with no per-album fees. Every plan includes the full template library and unlimited print-ready PDF exports. A 3-day free trial lets you produce a real, un-watermarked PDF before any charge.

How is this different from a consumer photo-book site?

Consumer sites control the printing, pricing and output. Cuppafolio gives you a professional print-ready PDF you own and print with any lab, with real bleed, 300 DPI and colour control aimed at client work.

Do I have to print through Cuppafolio?

No. We do not print at all. You export the PDF and use whichever professional album lab you prefer.
